Blood Spells

if your guts are a clenched fist

if your veins are tired of holding breath

light five candles in Black Doris plum-red

the moon’s authority is purely symbolic

brew ginger and parsley tea in a goblet

boil a Diva Cup to offer the goddess

now masturbate within the circle

take to your cervix with a rose agate dildo

and scream to the triple moon: “I will bleed without dying!”

if like a cat she still won’t come when called, coax her:

wear your most-prized and light-coloured underwear

blood should then follow

like a late bus gushing sticky round a corner
